Roberto and Renato Miaz are the award-winning collaborative duo whose paintings present a hyper-realistic, albeit blurred or out of focus depiction of everyday people. These exceptionally skillful paintings could - in one respect - seem to paraphrase an ideology in which still-frames and fragments of memory, faces, and specifics become blurred - not quite out of reach but never fully attained. Painting using spray-cans and restricted to a Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow colour-palette, the Miaz brothers display a profundity of technique rarely seen in painting. Commenting on the role of painting and also the ubiquity of the photographic image, the works are themselves situated almost above classification - too distanced from the paintbrush to be wholly considered conventional painting, yet certainly not informative enough to masquerade as photography. The brothers attended the Art School and European Institute of Design. Since childhood, the two have shared their lives collaborating with each other in work and play and now live and work in Valencia, Spain. Amongst their many accolades, Roberto and Renato were the winners of the prestigious International Arte Laguna Painting Prize in 2011 and recipients of the 2010 Amposta Museum of Contemporary Art International Biennial Prize, Barcelona, 2010. They have exhibited with Beers.Lambert Contemporary in The Artist, as Viewed from the Outside, at the London Art Fair 2013, (Jan) as well as the annual group exhibition, Contemporary Visions, (August 2012).

ROBERTO & RENATO MIAZ (b. 1965 and 1968, Italy) - Colloquially regarded as ‘The Miaz Brothers’, they have had solo exhibitions including Masters Series solo exhibition Spazio Thetis, Arsenale Novissimo Venezia (2012); and they are Winners of the highly regarded 2011 International Arte Laguna Prize; and Winners of the 2010 Amposta Museum of Contemporary Art International Biennial Prize, Barcelona (2010).
